The Bereavement Specialist Services We Provide

Our specialists are experienced in navigating the complaints and claims processes on behalf of bereaved families in circumstances where there are concerns or questions about the care or treatment that their loved one did, or did not, receive from health and social care providers involved.  It is often the case that grief can feel overwhelming, disorientating and exhausting, making it extremely difficult the bereaved to find the capacity to pursue what can feel like overly complicated pathways. Families often report not knowing who to speak to, being "passed from one department to another", and not receiving any response.  Our specialists know who to contact, when and how.  They can oversee or directly manage these processes on your behalf, acting as your representative to resolve matters outstanding. 

Our consultants are commissioned by NHS trusts to carry out independent comprehensive reviews of the care and treatment provided to patients following a patient safety incident. Our specialists use the System Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety (SEIPS) framework and work with the commissioning trust's quality and governance teams, ensuring that all learning opportunities are identified clearly and can be addressed proportionately within the service context. Our independent consultants are skilled in mediation and are able to bridge any gaps in understanding between the provider trusts and bereaved relatives, helping all parties to feel heard, and to reach a resolution for closure. 

The Coroner's Inquest process can feel confusing and overwhelming.  If your loved one's death is subject to a Coroner's inquest, it is likely that you have questions or even concerns about the circumstances of their death.  Our specialists can help you to ensure that your questions and concerns are heard and fully understood. Helping you to get the answers you deserve, without you feeling rushed through the process. 

When a loved one passes away, you may wish to obtain a copy of their medical records, especially if you have any questions or concerns about their care, treatment or any contact with healthcare services. Obtaining medication records can be a difficult process for bereaved families to follow, especially during their immediate grief.  It is our experience, that families often experience significant delays, additional distress and ultimately partial records.  Our specialists are experienced in knowing who to contact and how to obtain a comprehensive set of medical records on your behalf, reducing the stresses potentially experienced at a painful time. 

We can also arrange for expert forensic review of medical records if an independent medical opinion is required to help address any  questions or concerns you might have. 

Our Bereavement Support Specialists are highly experienced and trained in bereavement care, holding a safe space for you to explore the complexities of grief.  It is likely that you are experiencing multiple symptoms of grief and may have difficult questions or memories to talk through with a professional. 

We offer grievers to work with their Bereavement Support Specialist to have a bespoke support program designed to safeguard and build their health & wellbeing following loss.  This program incorporates coaching in addition to talking therapy, to support individuals to find meaning and hope for future wellness goals.
